BTS Jin Breaks Records with 'The Astronaut' Surpassing 140 Million Streams on Spotify
BTS' Jin has achieved immense popularity as "The Astronaut" surpasses 140 million streams on Spotify.
Jin's first solo single, "The Astronaut," crossed the 140 million streaming milestone on the world's largest music platform, Spotify, on March 21 (KST). As of the morning of April 8, the song had reached 148.66 million streams.
"The Astronaut" established a new record by breaking 100 million streams in just 72 days, the shortest time for a Korean male K-pop solo song and a Korean male solo song in Korean language. Released on October 28th last year, 'The Astronaut' debuted with the third-highest streaming for a Korean solo artist on Spotify and surpassed 10 million streams in just three days. Additionally, the song set new records by breaking 50 million streams in 22 days, 60 million in 29 days, 70 million in 37 days, and 90 million in 57 days.
Jin also made his debut on Spotify's 'Global Top Artist' and 'Japan Top Artist' charts on October 28th last year, ranking higher than any other Korean solo artist in history. 'The Astronaut' debuted at #17 on Spotify's 'Daily Top Songs Global' chart and remained on the chart for 37 days.
Jin has proven his strong streaming power on Spotify by surpassing 1 billion streams with all his credited songs. Since 2014, Jin has been credited on a total of nine songs, including three individual tracks featured on BTS albums, five solo songs, and one drama OST sung with V.
On April 4th, Jin ranked 7th on Billboard's "World Digital Song Sales Chart" (dated April 8th).
With this achievement, Jin set a new record for the longest charting solo K-pop artist within the last decade, with 13 weeks on the chart.
"The Astronaut" has been charting for 13 weeks, including 11 weeks in the 'Top 10,' demonstrating Jin's power as a global solo artist. The song re-entered the chart on March 11th and has been on the rise for five consecutive weeks.
Jin's "The Astronaut" debuted at #1 on the 'World Digital Song Sales Chart' upon its release on October 28th last year and remained at the top for three consecutive weeks. This is also the longest-standing #1 record for a K-pop solo artist within the last decade.
With "The Astronaut," Jin has received high praise for his versatile vocal tone and solid high notes that suit any genre, raising anticipation for his future endeavors as a talented vocalist.
