BTS's Jimin Soars to New Heights on Billboard's Hot 100 and Global Charts with "Set Me Free Pt. 2"
BTS's Jimin has reached unprecedented solo milestones on Billboard's Hot 100 and Global charts with his latest release, "Set Me Free Pt. 2."
On March 27, Billboard unveiled the latest Hot 100 chart and the top 10 rankings for the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts dated April 1, 2023. Jimin's pre-release track "Set Me Free Pt. 2" made an impressive debut at No. 30 on the Hot 100, Billboard's prestigious weekly ranking of the most popular songs in the United States.
This marks Jimin's second solo entry on the Hot 100, following his January debut with BIGBANG's Taeyang on their collaborative track "VIBE," which charted at No. 76. Notably, Jimin is now the first BTS member to break into the Hot 100's top 40 with a solo song.
Billboard's global charts, launched in September 2020, rank songs based on streaming and sales data from over 200 territories worldwide. The Global 200 chart includes data from all territories, while the Global Excl. U.S. chart focuses on data from territories outside the United States.
Jimin's "Set Me Free Pt. 2" debuted at No. 8 on the Global 200 chart, racking up over 56 million streams and 42,000 units sold worldwide in its first week. This is Jimin's first solo track to enter the top 10 of the Global 200, but his third top 20 entry, following "VIBE" with BIGBANG's Taeyang (No. 12) and "With You" with Ha Sung Woon (No. 19).
Jimin is the fourth BTS member to secure a solo top 10 entry on the Global 200, joining the ranks of Jungkook's "Dreamers" (No. 9) and "Left and Right" with Charlie Puth (No. 5), Jin's "The Astronaut" (No. 10), and Suga's "That That" with PSY (No. 5).
On the Global Excl. U.S. chart, "Set Me Free Pt. 2" debuted at No. 5 with 49.7 million streams and 27,000 units sold in its first week. This marks Jimin's highest solo ranking on the chart, outperforming his previous entries "VIBE" (No. 9) and "With You" (No. 14). Jimin is now the second BTS member, following Jungkook, to chart multiple solo songs in the top 10 of the Global Excl. U.S. chart, while Jin and Suga each have one entry.
Jimin's debut solo album "FACE" was released on March 24 and immediately topped iTunes charts in 111 regions. He became the first solo artist in Hanteo history to surpass 1 million first-day album sales. On March 27, Jimin made history as the first Korean soloist to reach No. 1 on Spotify's daily Global Top Songs chart, with "Like Crazy" taking the coveted top spot.
