Jung Woo Sung Reveals Storyline Of Upcoming 'Steel Rain' Sequel
On July 23, the cast and crew of "Steel Rain 2: Summit" has recently conducted a media conference ahead of their film's premiere.
Per Soompi, the "Steel Rain 2: Summit" is a sequel to the film "Steel Rain." It talks about a story of a crisis that unfolds right before a war when three leaders of the Korea-United States Summit was kidnapped in a North Korean nuclear-powered submarine.
The sequel is not directly related to the first film since the returning actors play different roles from the original.
In the film, Jung Woo Sung will be taking the role of a South Korean president. Yoo Yeon Seok will play the North Korean Chairman, and Kwak Do Won will play the part of the director of the North Korean guards who's behind the kidnapping of the three leaders. While performing the role of the U.S president is Scottish actor- Angus Macfadyen.
In the media conference, the film director said that the North Korean relations and North Korean nuclear policy remain a delicate issue for South Koreans. The Cold War system that used to surround the country has broken up, and Korea is now caught up in the conflict between the United States and China. With this, the director expressed that he wanted to show possible simulations for what could happen in considering the situation.
Jung Woo Sung revealed in the media preview that he got emotional while watching the film and somehow turned blank. He said that he felt the people of Korea had suffered so much misfortune after watching the movie and hoped that Koreans would find the road to new hope and peace.
Director Yang Woo Seok said about the four possible paths for the Korean peninsula, which starts from war, followed denuclearizations through negotiations. The third is the collapse of North Korea's regime, and the last is South Korea's nuclear armament.
Yeng Woo Seok was thinking of similar possible scenarios through the "Steel Rain" films. Though both the first film and the sequel talks about war and nuclear weapons, he thought of moving to a peaceful system in the movie.
The movie "Steel Rain 2: Summit" will hit Korea's big screens on July 29.
