Former SISTAR Member Dasom Leaves Starship Entertainment After 11 years
Kim Dasom, a former member of the girl group SISTAR, has left her agency of 11 years. On Tuesday, June 29, it was announced that the singer-turned-actress decided to part ways with Starship Entertainment, and the agency confirmed her departure.
The agency released a short statement to relay the news to fans that Kim Dasom did not renew her contract with Starship anymore. Despite the decision, the company hopes that Dasom will only have good days ahead of her.
"Starship Entertainment's multi-talented artist Kim Dasom, we were happy to have worked with you for so long," Allkpop quoted the agency as saying in a statement. "We will cheer you on and support you in your new beginning."
The company also asks everyone to send warm wishes and encouragement to Dasom as she moves on and starts anew with her next management agency. Now, as she officially leaves Starship Entertainment, among the members of SISTAR, only Soyou is left in the agency.
As mentioned on Koreaboo, Kim Dasom debuted in June 2010 as part of the 4-member girl group SISTAR. The band has been successful and produced many hits that are still popular today. But unfortunately, it disbanded in 2017, a decision that surprised the fans since the group has a lot of followers.
In 2018, one of the members, Hyorin, explained why SISTAR decided to disband. She said that since their debut, all the members have to promote not for themselves but the sake of the group. So this time, they want to work separately as everyone wants to try a new direction in their respective careers.
Meanwhile, after SISTAR disbanded, Kim Dasom shifted to acting and has since appeared in a number of dramas. Some of the projects she did as an actress include tvN's He Is Psychometric, Love Is Beautiful, Wonderful Life and Did We Love? Under a new agency, Dasom is expected to continue with her acting career rather than be a singer.
