Ji Soo Drops By KeyEast, Takes Legal Action Against False Sexual Violence Claims
Ji Soo is suing people who have been spreading malicious stories about him. He is taking them to court for falsely accusing him of sexual violence that he said is different from the truth.
Ji Soo claimed he was defamed, so he has taken legal action for people to stop spreading lies and further accuse him of things he never did. The 28-year-old actor also wants the truth to be revealed; that is why he hired lawyers to help him.
As per Money S, he is being represented by Shin & Kim law firm, and his side has already filed a case at a court in Seoul. The law firm released a statement on May 27 to publicly state its client's intention for taking legal action.
The lawyers said that Ji Soo was accused of bullying in middle school two months ago. It was also alleged that he was also involved in sexual violence with coercion. At that time, KeyEast Entertainment, Ji Soo's agency, denied such claims by releasing an official statement.
Ji Soo also wrote a handwritten letter and asked for forgiveness for his past actions while in middle school. He was said to have contacted the alleged victims of bullying as well so he can personally apologize. However, some people continued to post malicious stories about him.
"There were many facts that were different from the truth or completely false among the claims raised," his lawyers stated. "But the client did not respond at all or take any action against them just to show that he is truly reflecting on his past actions."
They explained that Ji Soo chose to remain silent while the allegations were being hurled. However, his continued silence made the false allegations, especially the one that says the actor was a perpetrator of a sexual crime, be seen as true.
Thus, he is filing a criminal complaint about defamation, so these rumors will stop already and eventually correct and reveal the truth. It was added that investigation on the false claims that were posted online is ongoing now.
Meanwhile, on the same day that Ji Soo was revealed to have filed a defamation case, KeyEast Entertainment also announced that it had terminated its contract with the actor. Sports Donga reported that the agency released a statement to confirm it has parted ways with the troubled artist and reiterated that it was a mutual decision.
