JTBC’s ‘More Than Friends’ Battles For Viewership Along With Other Weekend Dramas
JTBC’s “More Than Friends” battles for viewership along with SBS’ Alice and JTBC’s “Lie After Lie.”
The new romance drama, on September 25, aired its very first episode. As per Nielsen Korea, an average viewership rating of 1.5 percent nationwide was recorded during the premiere of “More Than Friends.”
“More Than Friends” follows the story of two friends who fall in unrequited love with the other over ten years. Kyung Woo Yeon plays a girl who gives up on her one-sided love for her best friend after a decade of pining named Shin Ye Eun. Ong Seong Wu takes the role of Lee Soo, the longtime object of Kyung Woo Yeon’s affection, who suddenly starts to see her in a new light.
The first episode revealed the story of Kyung Woo Yeon’s one-sided crush, starting from their time together in high school. Kyung Woo Yeon got up the courage to confess her feelings for him after the two became close friends. But Lee Soo turned her down, saying he just wanted to be friends with her and left to study abroad in America. Years later, Lee Soo reappeared in front of her like a dream.
Meanwhile, scoring average nationwide ratings of 6.0 percent and 7.0 percent for its two parts is SBS’s “Alice,” while an average rating of 0.8 percent for the night was recorded for MBC’s “SF8.”
The sci-fi drama “Alice” is about Park Jin Gyeom (Joo Won), an emotionless detective searching for his mother’s killer. He then ends up investigating time-traveling assassins who use a mysterious device called “Alice.” In his journey, he meets Yoon Tae Yi (Kim Hee Sun), a genius physicist who looks exactly like his mother.
Lastly, JTBC’s “Lie After Lie,” for its last episode, scored an average nationwide rating of 2.7 percent.
The new suspense-romance drama “Lie After Lie” stars Lee Yoo Ri as Ji Eun Soo, a woman who puts her life on the line with a dangerous lie to be reunited with her biological daughter. And after marrying into a chaebol family, Ji Eun Soo finds herself branded a husband-killer in the blink of an eye — and during her imprisonment for her husband’s murder, she loses custody of her daughter.
