Red Velvet’s Joy & Jun Hyun Moo To Host ‘2020 Idol Star Athletics Championship’ Spin-Off Dog Competition
MBC has confirmed its plans for a new "Idol Star Athletics Championship" with Red Velvet member Joy and Jun Hyun Moo as hosts!
On September 7, 2020, MBC has officially confirmed that they will move on with a spin-off of "Idol Star Athletics Championship," titled "Idol Woof Woof Athletics Championship."
The producers released a statement, stating that they will be holding a dog sports show in which idols will participate together with their dogs on stage. The producers added that they plan to air fun and loving show that will capture the hearts of idol handlers and their canine athletes.
The producers of the "Idol Star Athletics Championship" spin-off stated that they took many variables into account for the safety and prevention of the COVID-19 virus during the planning process. They added that the fans could look forward to the chemistry of dogs and their owners and the refreshing commentary of Jun Hyun Moo and Joy, who will be teaming up for the first time.
In the upcoming "Idol Star Athletics Championship" spin-off, idols will direct their pet dogs through an obstacle course to test their agility. The competition will be held outside, with plenty of space between the participating icons and their canine pets, with the producers taking precautionary steps to ensure the competitors' safety.
The new spin-off show of the "Idol Star Athletics Championship" will feature 11 teams and compete in the event. According to reports, the participants have been training for the last two months in preparation for the competition.
The show's confirmed contestants include GOT7's Youngjae, MAMAMOO's Moonbyul, UP10TION's Kim Woo Seok, (G) I-DLE's Shuhua, WJSN's Soobin, Lovelyz's Jisoo, Golden Child's Bomin, and Jaehyun.
In last month's reports, MBC has canceled all indoor activities for the upcoming "Idol Star Athletics Championship" due to the COVID-19 resurgence in South Korea. However, MBC announced on August 28 that they are currently discussing the possibility of a separate broadcast for the two events that can be held outdoors to minimize the risk of a COVID-19 spread.
