Screenwriter Jo Yong Praises Cast Of 'It's Okay To Not Be Okay'
TvN's "It's Okay To Not Be Okay" that premiered on June 20 tells the story of Go Moon Young, a children's storybook writer with an antisocial personality disorder, and Moon Kang Tae, a worker at a psychiatric ward. The final episode aired on August 9.
Film writer, Jo Yong thanked the viewers, the director, cast, and staff for their hard work throughout the drama. She also praised the actors for their impressive skills and performance.
The three actors who portrayed Kang Tae, Sang Tae, and Moon Young all did a perfect job in becoming the character expected of them to be, and they did have chemistry. She also added that she couldn't imagine someone playing Kang Tae other than Kim Soo Hyun.
Jo Yong continued to call a number of her most favorite scenes. One of her favorites was the scene where Kang Tae, Moon Young, and Sang Tae were arguing. She also loves the scene where Kang Tae dreams about Sang Tae as a daily employee who suddenly appears in between Kang Tae and Moon Young, who were wearing school uniforms.
Jo Yong explained that she loved how Sang Tae realized at that moment that his younger brother is happy when he's with Moon Young and the way Sang Tae decided to welcome Moon Young into their little family.
Continuing, Jo Yong thought that since the villains in fairy tales always leave defeated, the villains in the drama, which might be considered a fairy tale about growth, should go there in the same manner.
Jo Yong added that she wanted to place a stress on the thought that when the 'weak' ones unite and find the courage to face up against the villain, that dark shadow that when appeared so large are often defeated in one blow.
"I wanted to convey that message about courage within the last story naturally." - Jo Yong
