Kim Sae Ron, 24, Found Dead in Seoul Apartment; Police Rule Out Foul Play
South Korean actress Kim Sae Ron, known for her early success as a child star and later roles in dramas such as Bloodhounds and The Queen's Classroom, was found dead at her home in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on February 16, according to police. She was 24.
Authorities responded to an emergency call at approximately 4:50 p.m. KST after an acquaintance discovered Kim unresponsive and contacted the police. Upon arrival, officers confirmed there were no signs of forced entry or foul play, but the cause of death remains under investigation.
A police official stated, "So far, there are no indications of external intrusion or criminal activity, but the investigation into the cause of death is ongoing," as reported by Chosun Biz.
Kim first gained widespread recognition in 2009 at the age of nine, debuting as a child actress. She became well-known for her role in the 2010 action film The Man from Nowhere alongside Won Bin, which was a box-office hit in South Korea. Her later work included Mirror of the Witch, Leverage, and Hi! School - Love On.
Most recently, she appeared in the 2023 Netflix action series Bloodhounds, playing Cha Hyeon Ju. However, she had stepped back from acting following a drunk-driving incident in 2022, which led to a fine of 20 million won ($18,580) in April 2023.
The news of Kim's sudden passing has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry and among her fans. Social media has been flooded with tributes from viewers who followed her career from childhood.
