BABYMONSTER, YG's New Girl Group, Surprises Fans with Pre-debut Single 'DREAM' Reveal on May 14
YG Entertainment's rookie girl group, BABYMONSTER (AKA BABYMONS7ER), has whipped global music fans into a frenzy with the announcement of a surprise song gift following the confirmation of their seven-member debut.
YG Entertainment announced on the 13th that BABYMONSTER's pre-debut single, 'DREAM,' would be released on their official YouTube channel at 0:00 on May 14 (KST).
'DREAM' was previously featured in the final competition of BABYMONSTER's debut reality show 'Last Evaluation' EP.8, where the members encourage each other. The song drew a hot response and was met with an overwhelming demand from fans for a full release.
As the song that marked the grand finale of their monthly evaluation, it holds special significance heralding BABYMONSTER's new beginning. The beautiful harmony of the seven members, coupled with the poignant lyrics recalling their journey to their final debut, is expected to deliver a moving experience.
In the teaser poster released on the same day, the silhouettes of the seven members striding forward with confidence are captured. Against a sparkling blue sky, the title 'DREAM' is etched clearly, drawing attention to BABYMONSTER's first step toward their dream.
BABYMONSTER is YG's first girl group in about seven years after BLACKPINK. Composed of members from Korea (Ah-hyun, Ha-ram, Ro-ra), Thailand (Parita, Chikita), and Japan (Ruka, Asa), the group, equipped with vocals, dance, rap, and visuals, is an 'all-rounder' attracting global music market expectations.
As trainees pre-debut, they broke the record for the fastest K-pop girl group to reach 2 million YouTube channel subscribers in just 129 days, and their teaser content accumulated over 400 million views, hinting at their early popularity. The American Billboard selected them as a 'K-pop Artist to Watch,' predicting that they would "create a new wave in the K-pop genre."
