Fans Wonder Why Monsta X Is Not Nominated For Best Pop In The MTV VMAs
MTV has announced the nominees for the upcoming VMA's this year, and the awards show is once again keeping the questionable Best K-pop category with Monsta X, not on the said list.
Monsta X Fans have been clamoring for months to include the boy group in the Best Pop category in the MTV VMAs. However, the said award show only nominated BTS in the Best Pop, and no other Korean artist has ever battled out for the award.
After the nominees were announced, Monsta X fans questioned MTV for not including the said group and their single "Someone's Someone," then accusing the award show of being xenophobic.
For the upcoming MTV VMAs, Monsta X is nominated for Best K-pop Group for their single, "Someone's Someone," along with BTS, (G)I-DLE, EXO, Tomorrow X Together, and Red Velvet. However, BTS is the only K-pop group to be nominated on the Best Pop category along with Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Halsey, Jonas Brothers, and Taylor Swift.
Even with the success of Monsta X with their album 'All About Luv' and single 'Someone's Someone,' there are no signs of their nomination, making fans wonder why the group has not been nominated to the Best Pop category given that the album is marketed as a pop album with an English album title and an English written song.
Meanwhile, Monsta X member Shownu made his first public appearance on the group's online concert "MONSTA X LIVE FROM SEOUL WITH LUV" after the singer's eye surgery. Shownu further elaborated that he underwent eye surgery due to retinal detachment in his left eye. The singer also stated that he is now healthy and eating well, adding that the fans could enjoy the show.
Monsta X initially had a world tour slated this year, beginning with a concert in Seoul. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the concert was postponed.
