TWICE's Jihyo Breaks into Billboard 200 at #14, Marks Stellar Solo Debut
TWICE's leader, Jihyo, has made a triumphant solo debut.
According to the official announcement by U.S. Billboard on August 29, Jihyo's first mini-album 'ZONE', released on August 18th, entered the 'Billboard 200' at #14 and the 'Artist 100' at #10 for the week of September 2nd (local time).
In addition, she successfully charted in a total of nine categories, including Top Album Sales, Top Current Album Sales, Billboard Global 200, Billboard Global (Excluding U.S.), LyricFind Global, World Albums, and World Digital Song Sales.
Earlier, Jihyo's mini-album recorded an impressive first-week sales figure of 534,565 units as of August 24th, according to the album tally site Hanteo Chart. This set a new record for the highest first-week sales for a mini-album by a K-pop female solo artist, marking her debut as the first half-million seller.
On Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, her album secured spots within the Top 10 on the Top Album Debut Global Chart, Top Album Debut USA Chart (from August 18th to 20th, 2023), and Top Album Debut UK Chart (from August 18th to 21st, 2023). Her title track 'Killin' Me Good' topped the Top Song Debut Global Chart (from August 18th to 20th, 2023).
Jihyo has been captivating audiences with her powerful vocals and dazzling performances on music shows as a solo artist.
Adding to the excitement, the '#KillinMeGood Challenge' has been heating up in popularity. Fellow TWICE members, JYP Entertainment's head producer Park Jinyoung, and various other artists have joined in, showcasing the addictive dance moves of 'Killin' Me Good'. This synergy has led to a surge in short-form video views on the official channel, surpassing 20 million views as of the afternoon of August 29th.
