Here's Why BLACKPINK's Jennie Decided To Be A K-pop Idol
Jennie by BLACKPINK is undoubtedly one of the most commercially successful and dominant artists in this generation.
Her charm, creativity, and uniqueness have taken hold of her thousands of superfans who absolutely adore and support her just as much as she loves them. So it's impossible to imagine what K-Pop would be without Jennie. If she had never signed up for an audition under YG Entertainment in 2010, she would not have started her career in 2016 with BLACKPINK.
Jennie once notified the Zach Shang Show she was exceptionally close to taking a new purpose in life. She said that she lived alone in New Zealand when she was young while the rest of her family was in South Korea. After living all by herself in New Zealand, her mother decided to migrate Jennie to Florida for academic purposes.
On her way to Florida, Jennie witnessed how everything was settled for her. It hit her then that she wanted to do something for herself, and this is not the life she imagined for herself. It struck her at once and to want to be a musician, and fortunately, her family was open and accepting.
"And I began wondering, out of curiosity what I aspire to do was: 'I wanted to make music. I intend to study how to groove and everything like that.' So I asked my mother, 'Mom, why don't I just return home and do stuff I'd prefer for the rest of my life, instead of applying to a new school.' And she was encouraging and positive about the Ideal, so that's how I started." (via Koreaboo)
Jennie agreed to apply for YG Entertainment shortly afterward. She became their widely loved trainee, even making an appearance in G-Dragon's 'Black' MV in 2013.
Now Jennie is one of the world's best-known idols! All this wouldn't have been possible if, like many girls of her generation, she chose to follow her parents' plan to study abroad.
