BTS Climbs to the Top Spot in May 2023 Idol Group Brand Reputation Rankings, Followed by BLACKPINK and IVE
BTS has ascended to the top of the Idol Group Brand Reputation Rankings for May 2023 according to big data analysis results.
The Korean Business Research Institute conducted a big data analysis for the Idol Group Brand Reputation from April 25th, 2023 to May 25th, 2023, extracting 81,963,585 instances of brand big data. Compared to the 79,961,820 instances from last April, there was an increase of 2.51%.
The Brand Reputation Index is an indicator developed through brand big data analysis, discovering that consumers' online habits have a significant impact on brand consumption. Through Idol Group Brand Reputation analysis, both positive and negative evaluations of idol group brands, media interest, consumer engagement, and communication volume can be measured. It also includes qualitative evaluations from Brand Reputation Monitors.
The Idol Group Brand Reputation measures the participation index, media index, communication index, and community index of consumers towards idol group brands through an integrated brand category analysis of both boy groups and girl groups.
The top 30 rankings for the May 2023 Idol Group Brand Reputation were, in order: BTS, BLACKPINK, IVE, Seventeen, Newkidd, Aespa, EXO, FTFT, Le Seraphim, Girls' Generation, Twice, NCT, Teen Top, BTOB, Oh My Girl, SHINee, Tomorrow X Together, High-Q, Red Velvet, Monsta X, The Boyz, Stray Kids, Super Junior, Astro, Big Bang, Apink, Highlight, STAYC, ENHYPEN, and Winner.
BTS (RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, Jungkook), who claimed the top spot in the Idol Group Brand Reputation, scored a participation index of 504,210, a media index of 1,502,992, a communication index of 2,030,052, and a community index of 2,601,641, which lead to a Brand Reputation Index of 6,638,894. This marks a decrease of 23.21% compared to last April's Brand Reputation Index of 8,645,890.
BLACKPINK (Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, Lisa) came in second with a Brand Reputation Index of 5,316,470. This signifies a decrease of 25.51% compared to last April's Brand Reputation Index of 7,136,906.
IVE (Ahn Yujin, Kaeul, Rei, Jang Wonyoung, Liz, Leeseo) took third place with a Brand Reputation Index of 5,020,997, which marks a decrease of 12.18% from last April's Brand Reputation Index of 5,717,670.
The Director of the Korean Business Research Institute, Goo Chang-hwan, said, "In the May 2023 Idol Group Brand Reputation Rankings, BTS claimed the top spot. The Idol Group Brand category saw a 2.51% increase compared to the 79,961,820 instances of idol brand big data from last April. Looking at the detailed analysis, brand consumption rose by 13.47%, brand issue increased by 20.48%, brand communication went up by 9.30%, while brand proliferation decreased by 11.58%."
He added, "In the link analysis of BTS, who claimed the top spot in the May 2023 Idol Group Brand Reputation Rankings, 'achieve,' 'award,' and 'reveal' were highly mentioned. In the keyword analysis, '10th anniversary medal,' 'The Planet,' and 'Billboard' stood out. In the positivity-negativity analysis, BTS recorded a positivity rate of 87.56%."
