Rising Star Kim Hieora: From the Stage to the Screen, Embracing Challenges in Netflix Series 'The Glory'
Kim Hieora, a seasoned musical actress, has taken a leap from the stage to the screen and gained critical acclaim for her performance in the Netflix series "The Glory." In the series, she portrays Lee Sara, one of the tormentors of the protagonist Moon Dong-eun (played by Song Hye-kyo). Despite her success on stage, Kim Hieora was relatively new to film and television and had to adjust to the demands of a new medium.
In an interview, Kim Hieora shared her journey, challenges, and the valuable lessons she learned during her transition from stage to screen. She talked about her audition for "The Glory" and how it helped her regain her confidence. She said, "I was grateful just for the opportunity to audition for this production, and I never expected to pass it. But once I did, it made me feel like I was doing something right."
Playing the complex character of Lee Sara, a drug-addicted daughter of a pastor who leads a double life, wasn't easy for the actress. She had to immerse herself in the character, who was both cat-like and snake-like, and find the right balance between the two. Kim Hi-era did extensive research, watching various films and TV shows to get a better understanding of her character and how to portray her on screen.
She also discussed the importance of not justifying her character's actions, making sure her performance didn't glorify the villainous role. "I didn't want my acting to justify the character in the eyes of the audience. I was careful about how much I should do and how far I should go," she explained.
Kim Hieora expressed her gratitude for the love and recognition she received after appearing in "The Glory," which helped her establish a name for herself in the industry. She also acknowledged the challenges she faced in taking a break from the stage to focus on her acting career, and how her courageous decision paid off in the end.
She concluded, "I wanted to do this properly, so I decided to take a break from the stage for a year and focused on preparing myself for screen roles. It wasn't easy, but I believe my courage has led me to this point. If I hadn't taken that leap, I might have missed out on these opportunities due to my schedule."
