BLACKPINK Lisa Creates History, Becomes First Soloist To Bag 'Best K-Pop' Award At Both the MTV VMAs & MTV EMAs
BLACKPINK's maknae, Lalisa Manobal, is on a career high and has created history by winning the "Best K-Pop" award at both the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards and the 2022 MTV European Music Awards.
At the recently held 2022 MTV EMA Awards, where Lisa was nominated as a solo artist in the "Best K-pop" category, competing against BTS, ITZY, Twice, Seventeen, and even her own group BLACKPINK, she emerged as the winner.
Though the megastar and multi-talented singer could not attend the award show in person to take her trophy, Lisa shared her appreciation with fans all over the world in a pre-recorded video.
The Thai-born K-pop idol said that she felt very honored to have won the European Music Awards for "Best K-pop" this year. She also told everyone that their support for her debut solo album "LALISA", as well as BLACKPINK's new album "Born Pink" meant a lot to her.
The super celebrity also asked the audience and viewers to enjoy the rest of the night and she hoped to see them at one of BLACKPINK's shows on the "Born Pink" tour.
Incidentally, Lisa also made history a few months ago by becoming the first K-pop soloist to get a nomination at the 2022 MTV VMAs. Moreover, she also became the first Asian solo act to take home the award.
The records that Lisa has set do not end there as with her two MTV wins she also becomes the first soloist from Thailand to earn such laurels, creating a massive impact as a solo artist.
Meanwhile, the four members of BLACKPINK are on the North American leg of their new world tour, touted as the first of its kind for K-pop girls groups in terms of magnitude and scale.
The group made a return after nearly a two-year gap for their second album, for which they are on tour now. The absence led to many debates about the future of the group.
In a recent interview, group member Rosé said that the band was excited and grateful that they were able to work on the "Born Pink" album while preparing to meet and perform the new songs for their fans, known collectively as the BLINKS.
She added that since the pandemic, it has been a brutal and awfully long time for everyone, so they could not wait to be back performing for so many of their fans, who had been patiently waiting and that she is excited to see the familiar faces.
