The Korea Electric Power Corporation (Kepco) has confirmed that actress Kim Sae Ron has made the full payment to replace the electricity transformer she had destroyed by hitting it repeatedly while driving her car under the influence of alcohol.

Kepco revealed that the actress paid about 15,817 USD to replace the electric transformer box unit and that she had herself reached out first to make the reimbursement for the damage.

However, Kim Sae Ron is still in negotiations for settlements with the businesses around the posh Gangnam area, where several buildings suffered power outages because of the accident involving her drunk driving. According to reports, the actress's insurance may cover the damage.

On May 18, during the morning hours, around 8 AM KST approximately, Kim Sae Ron's car collided with an electricity transformer box, which was located on the side of the street near Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam.

As per some eyewitnesses present near the scene of the incident, the actress hit the box numerous times, which also resulted in loud noises. In fact, they were surprised that the box did not explode because of the several hard impacts. Furthermore, Kim Sar Ron did not step out of her car to check the damage, instead, she tried to flee from the scene.

When the police arrived at the incident area, requesting Kim Sae Ron to take a breathalyzer test, she refused and asked to be taken to the hospital for a blood test instead.

As a result of her DUI incident, not only did the traffic lights go out in the vicinity of the incident but businesses around the area also had to reportedly shut down because their payment processing system was failing due to electricity outages. As a result, some of the businesses had to close down for the morning because the ensuing repair lasted for nearly five hours.

Incidentally, the blood test results of the actress will be available sometime around June 1.

Meanwhile, following the DUI controversy, the actress's label, Gold Medalist, released an official statement apologizing for her conduct. They also revealed that Kim Sae Ron will withdraw from the "Trolley" cast. It is an upcoming SBS K-drama by SBS, where she had been cast earlier this year.

There is also a possibility that the production house for "Bloodhounds", the Netflix webtoon-turned-drama could sue her for possible losses, especially if they have to reshoot parts that feature Kim Sae Ron as one of the lead characters.
