Lee Hyun Woo Confirmed To Join Korean Remake Of The 'Money Heist'
Lee Hyun Woo will be back on the small screen after it was confirmed that he was cast in the Korean remake of the Spanish hit drama series, the Money Heist or La Casa de Papel. This will be one of his first projects since being discharged from the army on Oct. 19, 2019.
According to Allkpop, the 28-year-old actor will take on the role of Rio in the series. His agency, Awesome Entertainment, revealed that its artist is really excited to work on the project that will be released via Netflix.
One reason why Lee Hyun Woo is thrilled is that the Money Heist is a top-rated drama, and it is a big opportunity to be part of it. Moreover, it has been a long time since he has worked in a drama and would like to return soon as his fans are waiting to see him again.
"I am excited to be greeting the viewers through a drama for the first time in a while," Sports Chosun quoted Lee Hyun Woo as saying through his agency. "I will do my best to create a cool, memorable character. I will work hard in the production and make sure it will be a Korean remake of Money Heist that the viewers will like and anticipate."
In any case, it was mentioned that the other cast members in the upcoming Netflix originals include Yoo Ji Tae as the El Professor, Park Hae Soo as Berlin, Jang Yoon Joo as Nairobi, Kim Ji Hoon as Denver, Jeon Jong Seo as Tokyo, Lee Kyung Ho as Oslo, Lee Won Jong as Moscow and Kim Ji Hoon as Helsinki. Everyone has been confirmed, and Lee Hyun Woo is the latest addition as Rio.
He was actually a replacement after actor Park Jung Woo declined the role. On May 31, his agency explained that because of conflicts in schedule, he had to withdraw from Money Heist. The 25-year-old is filming Fly High Butterfly, and shooting days for the remake drama overlap, so he does not have a choice but to let go of the project.
The original Spanish version of the Money Heist was released in 2017, and it is now on its fifth season, which is reportedly going to be the final run. The anticipated finale is set to air on Sept. 3.
Meanwhile, Lee Hyun Woo appeared in films and dramas, including Secretly, Greatly, To the Beautiful You, Moorim School: Saga of the Brave, and more. Aside from the Korean remake of the said Spanish drama, he also has two movies coming up, and these are Hero and Dream.
