Block B's Zico Is Set To Enlist In The Military Service This Month
KOZ Entertainment, Block B's home management, has announced Zico's military enlistment due in the latter date of this month. Per Hellokpop, Zico will be joining the South Korean army as a "public service worker."
"Zico [will] enter the training camp on the 30th," KOZ Entertainment said, then adding to reveal that the K-pop idol will first receive basic military training four weeks before serving as a public social worker.
The announcement of Zico's military enlistment shocked the fans, earning diverse reactions of their idol's hiatus.
Per Soompi, Zico is the fifth member of the all-boy band Block B enlisted in the military service, following fellow members, Jaehyo's discharge in December 2019.
Zico was born in 1992 in the full name Woo Ji Ho, who debuted in the all-boy K-pop ensemble called Block B. The group debuted in 2011 with Zico acting as the bandleader. The band is best known for its hit single titled "Freeze."
According to Hellokpop, the 27-year-old singer put on the show for his solo debut in 2014, with his hit track "Tough Cookie," which features Produce 101's rap mentor, Don Mills.
Aside from being a K-pop idol, Zico is also a rapper, songwriter, and record producer. He is famous for his exemplary expertise in the K-hip-hop industry. Having that said, he produces both K-pop and hip-hop music.
Aside from being a part of Block B, Zico joined the Fanxy Child squad in 2016 then followed by his first full-length album release in 2019, titled "Thinking." The album release comes after Zico appointed as a goodwill representative for his home city.
Earlier this year, Zico dropped his "Any Single" single that dominated various Korean airplay charts for weeks. The song became more popular by gracing the video-sharing application, TikTok, for the hashtag "Any Song" challenge. And on July 1, Zico released his newest album entitled "Random Box," which comes with the lead single "Summer Hate" that features Rain.
