BTS’ 'Save Me' Surpasses 500 Million Youtube Views
After 4 years since its release, at 1:42 PM on Monday (June 22), BTS’s music video ‘Save Me’ has reached 500 Million views with 6.5 Million likes on Youtube! BTS is now the only K-pop group that has the most videos that surpassed the number, according to its agency, Big Hit Entertainment.
The music video was released on May 25, 2016, at 10 PM KST. BTS achieved the milestone after a total of 4 years, one month, and seven days.
Big Hit Entertainment celebrated the milestone with a special poster image that was shared through their social media accounts.
From BTS’ 25 music videos with over 100 million views, 9 of them leaps beyond 500 Million including Save Me, DNA (2017), Boy With Luv (2019), Fake Love (2018), Fire(2016), Remix version of MIC Drop (2017), Idol (2018), Dope (2015) and Blood, Sweat and Tears (2016).
BTS’ ‘Save Me’ is part of the compilation album ‘The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever’ 2016. It is a tropical house and electro-pop track.
“Deceptively bright and bounce- and aural carnival that masks the pleas for help in the lyrics” as described by NME’s Rhian Daly. Meanwhile, Billboard described it as “powerfully subtle”.
The song as quoted from Korea JoongAng Daily, “was written on behalf of young people who are struggling to make their place in reality, expressing the band’s desperate need to provide a helping hand through the sentimental body.”
With a one-take shot, the music video shows the boy band members dancing on a rainy hillside. “I can’t believe they did this in one shot. Like only BTS can do it. Proud to be a BTS ARMY,” one fan commented on the music video.
The song also has a Japanese version featured in the album ‘Youth’.
Meanwhile, BTS’ ‘DNA’ has just hit 1 Billion Views in Youtube, while their new track ‘Stay Gold’ continues to receive warm support from fans around the globe.
