On August 31, amid the coronavirus outbreak, actor Park Bo Gum officially enlisted for his mandatory service. His two “Reply 1988” co-stars posted some photos to show support.
On the afternoon that day, Park Bo Gum entered the Naval Basic Military Education Group under the Naval Education Command located in Jinhae Gu, South Korea, together with other 669 naval soldiers. He quietly entered the hospital wearing a black cap covering his short-shaved head and a face mask.
Actor Go Kyung Pyo posted an undisclosed photo of Park Bo Gum on his social media with a thumbs up caption. Lee Dong Hwi also showed his warm friendship with Park Bo Gum by posting a funny blooper video from “Reply 1988” on his Instagram account where Park Bo Gum has been laughing hysterically and apologizing. Lee Dong Hwi wrote in his caption, wishing him to come back healthy and #seeyouagain.
On the day of his enlistment, Park bo Gum left a gift for his fans, releasing the music video of “Yes, We Are Together,” where he sang during last year’s fans meeting. It was released for his fans who would be waiting for approximately two years.
The 669 trainees, including Park Bo Gum, will undergo a Polymerise Chain Reaction test in the unit to check for COVID-19 infection where you will need a negative result to receive primary military education and training for six weeks as scheduled.
After completing the training at the Naval Basic Military Education Corps, Park Bo Gum is scheduled to be assigned to his unit and will serve as a cultural ambassador of the Navy’s Military Music Guard Battalion for his twenty-month of the service period.
Park Bo Gum devoted his remaining time before enlistment to filming the tvN drama “Record of Youth” and the movie “Wonderland.” Before enlisting, he met with his fans and after enrolling as well.
The tvN Drama “Record of Youth” will broadcast this September 7 at 9 PM, KST.
