In the past decade, the K-pop music scene has made a ripple in its inception with its rise of popularity in East Asian countries, but that has changed in the next decade, with BTS leading the charge of the Kpop wave surging to the shores of different countries around the world.
According to TMI News, the following ten songs that made up this list have a massive impact on the K-pop Industry and the Western market.
Number 10: TWICE – ‘Cheer Up’
Released in 2016, TWICE’s single “Cheer up” has been one of the best-performing singles in that year, winning two awards for Song of the Year awards from Melon Music Awards and MNET Asian Music Awards. The single has recently reached 400 million views on Youtube, and it’s TWICE’s fourth MV to achieve this feat following “TT,” “Likey,” and “What is Love.”
Number 9: Crayon Pop – ‘Bar Bar Bar’
Crayon Pop’s “Bar Bar Bar” was the second single album, and the fourth single by the girl group, which was released on June 20, 2013. The single has taken over Japan, China, Australia, and other countries and the girl group winning Best New Female Artist during its festivities in Hong Kong.
Number 8: iKon – ‘Love Scenario’
iKon single has been popular with most of the younger generation today and in the school system. The song is so popular that some elementary schools are banning the song because students would sing “excessively.” Last month, “Love Scenario” has surpassed 400 million views on Youtube. It took two years and four months for the single to reach this kind of feat.

EXO introduced a new concept in their comeback with “Growl” back in August 2013. Psy’s viral hit “Gangnam Style” took the world into a surprise as it debuted number 1 in the Gaon Chart and peaked at number 2 in the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. The Guinness World Records also recognize the song as the most liked video on Youtube. “Gangnam Style” has over 3 billion views until today.
