MAMAMOO’s Hwasa Confirms Solo Comeback in June
Rainbow Bridge Entertainment (RBW) released a statement confirming Hwasa’s solo comeback.
A source at the agency stated, “Hwasa is currently preparing a new solo album, with the goal of a release in late June. We will notify you once her comeback date has been decided.” Soompi reported.
The agency is said to release Hwasa’s solo comeback around the end of this month. This will be Hwasa’s first comeback as a solo artist since her solo debut last February of 2019.
Her debut song ‘Twit’ won Artist of the Year for Digital Music. It was a big feat for her considering she participated in writing and composing it. Hwasa often participates in writing and composing songs for MAMAMOO as well.
Twit successfully topped the Gaon Digital Chart and scored a "Triple Crown", topping the Gaon Digital, Gaon Download and Gaon Streaming charts in Korea.
In 2018, Hwasa participated in KBNS2's Hyena on the Keyboard. It is a music reality television show where the process of song production from various producers/singer-songwriters is shown. The completed songs will then be released as digital singles on various online music sites.
Hwasa collaborated with songwriter-rapper Loco in the show and wrote ‘Don't Give It to Me’. Their song became a number one hit, earning 2.5 million Korean won in sales, leading the song to become platinum-certified.
Aside from bagging collaborations and preparing for her upcoming solo comeback, Hwasa also released original soundtracks for dramas along with her group members in MAMAMOO.
However, in April this year, Hwasa released a new track ‘Orbit’. It is one of the original soundtracks for the ongoing drama ‘The King: Eternal Monarch’. This is the first time that Hwasa sang for an OST without her group members.
As an established idol/singer with unique sensual charms, Hwasa is gaining attention after the announcement of her comeback. People are excited to see what kind of content Hwasa has in store for all of us this June.
