Super Junior's Kyuhyun Opens Up About His 18-Year Stay in a Dorm
On the January 4 episode of the YouTube show "Johhyuna's Thursday Night," Kyuhyun talked about his decision to leave SM Entertainment and move to Antenna Music. He also discussed his time living in a dorm with his fellow Super Junior members.
Kyuhyun said that he lived in the dorm for almost 18 years. He admitted that he was sad to leave, as he had set a world record for the longest-serving idol to live in a dorm.
Kyuhyun also talked about the challenges of living in a dorm. He said that he didn't have his own room for the first six months of his time there. He had to sleep on a cot in someone else's room, and he had to move around the dorm as needed.
"I think that's why I was so attached to the dorm," Kyuhyun said. "It was a painful process of finding my place in the dorm. I think that's why I had such strong feelings for it."
Kyuhyun has been living on his own for about four months now. He said that he is loving his new independence.
"I'm thinking, 'Why did I leave so late?'" he said. "I'm not in my right mind. I didn't need to live in the dorm for 17 years."
Kyuhyun said that the best thing about living on his own is the freedom. He said that he can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants.
"Even in the dorm, I had some freedom," he said. "I could bring friends over, and we could hang out. That was fun. We would get closer to each other. But even so, there was always a sense of anxiety when someone would come in. I like the fact that I don't have to worry about anything now. I can just walk around naked if I want. I like the fact that I can walk around confidently."
Kyuhyun's decision to leave the Super Junior dorm is a sign of his growing maturity and independence. He is ready to start a new chapter in his life, and he is excited to see what the future holds.
