TWICE's First Sub-Unit MISAMO: Mina, Sana, and Momo's Enchanting Debut Takes Tokyo by Storm
TWICE's inaugural sub-unit, MISAMO, consisting of members Mina, Sana, and Momo, is captivating fans with a pop-up gallery in Tokyo.
From August 30 to September 3, JYP Entertainment is operating the MISAMO pop-up gallery 'Masterpiece' in Shibuya, Tokyo. This space offers fans a comprehensive experience of MISAMO's Japanese debut album 'Masterpiece', which was released on July 26th.
Decorated with a 'masterpiece' or 'fine art' concept, the gallery showcases a variety of merchandise, jacket photos, unreleased images, outfits worn by the members in the music video, and photo zones with their autographs. The gallery is drawing significant attention, offering visitors a rich experience of the album's content.
MISAMO's debut track 'Do not touch' from 'Masterpiece' is an R&B genre song that captures the seductive charms of Mina, Sana, and Momo. Penned by JYP Entertainment's chief producer Park Jin-young, the song uses the museum signage 'Do not touch' as a concept, portraying the three members as art pieces. With a mesmerizing performance and a musical message that "everyone is a noble being and should be treated preciously," the song has garnered love from listeners both domestically and internationally.
With their Japanese mini-album 'Masterpiece', MISAMO has demonstrated their immense popularity and presence as TWICE's first sub-unit. According to the Oricon official website on August 1st, MISAMO's 'Masterpiece' recorded sales of 155,000 copies in its first week, securing the top spot on the Oricon Weekly Album Ranking (from July 24th to July 30th, 2023).
With this, MISAMO achieved the highest first-week sales for a female artist in Japan in 2023. Additionally, on July 26th, they topped the Japanese Line Music Top 100 Album real-time ranking and the Japanese iTunes Store album ranking. On the same day, they also dominated the iTunes album charts in 22 international regions, including Japan, Singapore, and Turkey, and the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart on July 25th and 26th, showcasing their formidable global influence.
