The girl group NewJeans has received their first 'Platinum' certification from the Japan Record Association.

According to the Japan Record Association on the 27th, NewJeans' (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) 'Ditto' has surpassed 100 million cumulative streams as of May 2023.

The Japan Record Association grants certifications every month based on the cumulative number of streams of a song, distinguishing between Gold (over 50 million), Platinum (over 100 million), and Diamond (over 500 million).

Released on December 19th of the previous year, 'Ditto' quickly topped both domestic and international charts, and it remains popular in Japan. According to the Billboard Japan mid-year report (for the period from November 28, 2022, to May 28, 2023), NewJeans' 'Ditto' ranked 17th in the 'Hot 100' and 13th in the 'Streaming Songs' chart. Both are the highest ranks recorded by a K-pop artist.

In addition, NewJeans topped the Oricon Weekly Combined Singles Ranking with their single album 'OMG' containing 'Ditto'. They also became the fastest foreign female artist to achieve 100 million cumulative streams on Oricon with a single song ('Ditto'). These are significant achievements for the group, especially since they have yet to make their official debut in Japan.

Boosted by this popularity, NewJeans has been receiving a series of calls to appear on famous Japanese music shows and festivals. They will appear on Nippon TV's 'The Music Day 2023' on the 1st of next month and Fuji TV's '2023 FNS Music Festival Summer' on the 12th. On August 19th, they will take the stage at 'Summer Sonic 2023,' one of Japan's representative music festivals.
