Styling with Sneakers: BLACKPINK Spills the Beans on their Favorite Adidas Footwear
Global K-pop sensations, BLACKPINK, known for their seamless fusion of music and style, recently revealed their most-loved Adidas kicks, amplifying their well-established streetwear fashion trend.
The quartet, featuring Lisa, Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé, is the star attraction of Adidas' new campaign, "Home of Classics," where they model the "Originals" line, a comprehensive collection of sneakers and athletic casual wear. On Wednesday, Adidas launched a TikTok video featuring BLACKPINK, with each member unveiling their preferred Adidas sneakers.
Lisa, aged 26, disclosed her fondness for the Adidas Forum, a style that's remained in vogue since the 80s with its low-cut structure, making it one of the most identifiable basketball silhouettes. Jisoo, the eldest at 28, exhibited a penchant for a sportier look, showcasing the Campus 00s. This model, initially launched as a basketball shoe in the 80s, resurfaced as a lifestyle essential in 2022.
The younger duo, Jennie and Rosé, both in their mid-20s, appeared to have similar footwear preferences, favoring the iconic Adidas Superstar. Known for its leather-based low-top design and the distinctive three-stripe brand logo, the Superstar's popularity has endured over the decades. Despite its basketball shoe origins, it has evolved into a versatile sneaker choice for fashion, athletic gear, casual wear, or work attire.
BLACKPINK's association with the retro-inspired "Home of Classics" campaign was announced earlier this month. Images and a promotional video released by Adidas Korea, showcasing the "Pink Venom" performers dressed in apparel and footwear from the global brand, quickly went viral on social media.
The girl group's influence has been steadily permeating the music and fashion arenas over the past year. Their ongoing "Born Pink" world tour, which debuted at the KSPO Dome in Seoul, South Korea, last October, has kept them in the spotlight. They recently made history as the first K-pop act to headline the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Besides their musical prowess, the BLACKPINK members have made their mark in the fashion world as global ambassadors for luxury fashion brands like Bulgari, Cartier, Chanel, and Yves Saint Laurent. Their impressive list of endorsements doesn't stop at Adidas; they've also associated with renowned brands like Pepsi, Samsung, Oreo, and Puma.
