Here's Why BLACKPINK's Rosé Auditioned For YG Entertainment
Rosé is the cherished lead dancer and vocalist of BLACKPINK. While performing "I Won't Give Up" at the Sydney audition by Jason Mraz, she managed to reach a contract to South Korea's leading music recording label, YG Entertainment, in 2012.
That being said, she did not initially want to become a singer because it seemed unbelievable at that time, as she told The Sydney Morning Herald in 2017. She narrated that aside from thinking that there's no chance for her to become a singer, specifically to become a K-pop star at the time, Rose added that it was unrealistic since she's living in Australia and never imagined being prominent in South Korea.
She was able to sweep the hurdles and managed to sign with YG Entertainment because of a precise reason. It wasn't her aspirations that brought her where she is right now, but her father. She admitted to the Zach Shang Show. Rose added that she auditioned because her dad pushed her to.
And the hilarious reason behind her father pushing her to audition for a recording label is because he's tired of hearing Rose singing at the top of her lungs every midnight! Rose teasingly shared that maybe it's her dad's way of getting rid of her and her high notes every night, so he decided to send her to South Korea to pursue a music career.
Only a couple of years later, her parents told her their line of reasoning. "As I got older, they informed me, 'Rosie, as you sing at the peak of your lungs, it was challenging for us to go to bed.' If I couldn't hit the notes, I suppose I should perform "Listen" of Beyoncé because I was such a bad singer. I think my father was like, 'Yeah, I guess she wants to go for music.' I think my father was like that." (via Koreaboo)
Rosé has indeed been auditioning for YG Entertainment and has been a critical member of BLACKPINK and international luxury brand Ambassadress of Yves Saint Laurent.
