The globally successful 'Squid Game' is set to produce its second and third seasons simultaneously, presenting a total of 13 episodes.
According to OSEN's reports on May 16, Netflix's 'Squid Game' plans to shoot both seasons 2 and 3 at the same time, crafting 13 episodes for audiences worldwide. Whether season 2 will consist of six episodes and season 3 will have seven will be determined after further discussions.
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who was in charge of both directing and screenwriting for 'Squid Game,' has decided to produce seasons 2 and 3 concurrently after discussions with Netflix. It is understood that they have agreed to film all 13 episodes at once and then release them sequentially.
Recently, the 'Squid Game' team began test shooting for season 2 and will start the first full-scale filming in July. As they are shooting both seasons simultaneously, the filming period is expected to last more than ten months. It is known that the story will center around Lee Jung-jae's character Seong Gi-hun and Lee Byung-hun's Frontman.
Meanwhile, 'Squid Game' is a nine-episode Netflix original series that tells the story of participants in a mysterious survival game vying to be the last winner for a prize of 45.6 billion won.
