Broadcaster Park Soo-hong's embezzlement lawsuit against his older brother and sister-in-law has reached another crucial point as the witness testimonies conclude, with his father's statement being the most anticipated.

On April 19, Park Soo-hong attended the 5th public trial at the Seoul Western District Court as a witness against his sibling and their spouse, who are accused of embezzling funds. The trial was marked by intense exchanges between Park Soo-hong and the defendants' lawyer during cross-examination.

The older brother's lawyer claimed that Park Soo-hong's father was the one responsible for managing his assets and that Park Soo-hong was well aware of this. They also alleged that Park Soo-hong had instructed his brother to deposit event fees into a third-party account and to transfer about 60 million KRW to his wife, Kim Da-ye.

In response, Park Soo-hong stated, "My older brother managed all my finances and assets. My father wasn't the one to handle these matters." He also expressed anger at the mention of his ex-girlfriend as the third party.

Park Soo-hong pleaded with the court to avenge his injustice, saying he didn't know that his brother and sister-in-law would "socially assassinate" him.

The older brother and his wife are accused of embezzling 6.2 billion KRW from Park Soo-hong's appearance fees between 2011 and 2021 while operating two entertainment companies. While the brother partially admitted to the charges, he denied most of the embezzlement allegations.

The witness testimonies will continue with the testimony of company accountants and Park Soo-hong's father. Although it's not yet confirmed, the father's testimony could be the final one in this trial, which may only conclude by the end of the year after 2-3 more sessions.

Park Soo-hong's father has previously claimed to have managed all of his son's assets and has faced controversy for exploiting the family relationship. If his claim is accepted, the embezzlement charges against the older brother and his wife may not hold, making this a contentious point in the trial. The father's upcoming testimony is expected to attract significant attention, as it may lead to further legal battles between the prosecution and Park Soo-hong's father.
