Song Ji-hyo to Part Ways with Agency UZUROCKS Amid Contract Termination Lawsuit
Actress Song Ji-hyo has notified her agency of her intent to terminate her exclusive contract. However, her agency UZUROCKS is expected to resist this move, resulting in a conflict between the two parties.
According to an OSEN report on the 24th, Song Ji-hyo notified UZUROCKS of her intention to terminate her exclusive contract on the 14th and is now preparing for a lawsuit to confirm the nonexistence of the contract's validity.
The reason behind Song Ji-hyo's decision to terminate her contract with the agency appears to be the loss of trust caused by UZUROCKS being embroiled in allegations of non-payment of wages to employees and affiliated artists.
At the time, UZUROCKS stated, "We have already completed all payments, including salaries and the four major insurance payments, to those who have resigned, and all current employees will receive their salaries as scheduled. Settlements for our affiliated artists will also proceed without any issues during the scheduled period."
Despite UZUROCKS's active denial of the non-payment and artist settlement allegations, it is said that Song Ji-hyo's trust in the agency has been shattered, leading her to decide on terminating her exclusive contract.
However, regarding Song Ji-hyo's contract termination notice, UZUROCKS explained, "We are still verifying the facts. She is still an actress affiliated with our company." The sharp confrontation between the two parties is expected to lead to a lawsuit to confirm the nonexistence of the exclusive contract's validity.
In October last year, Song Ji-hyo joined UZUROCKS, the agency where comedian and TV personality Ji Suk-jin is affiliated. The agency represents not only Ji Suk-jin, but also numerous singers, broadcasters, and actors, including Lee Hyun-woo, Oh Man-seok, Son Mi-na, Baekga, Lee Joo-eun, Jung Ha-na (Secret), Ki Do-hoon, Zelo, and 2Z.
In particular, Ji Suk-jin and Song Ji-hyo garnered much attention as they became part of the same agency while being original members of SBS's popular variety show 'Running Man.' It is regrettable that Song Ji-hyo is leaving after just six months.
Meanwhile, Song Ji-hyo has been appointed as a promotional ambassador for the National Tax Service in 2023 alongside actor Kim Soo-hyun.
