Rookie K-pop Band BugAboo Announces Disbandment
Rookie K-pop girls' group bugAboo is going to disband. The band's management agency ATEAM released an official statement, which announced that the group will stop activities and terminate all the exclusive contracts of the members.
In the statement the agency expressed their gratitude to fans who love and support the group before informing everyone of their official statement related to the band's activities.
The statement, which was released on December 8, said the group that had worked since making their debut until now, while receiving love from fans, will be halting their activities from that very day.
Furthermore, both bugAboo and ATEAM decided to stop group activities and terminate all the contracts of the members after lengthy discussion and consideration.
ATEAM ended the statement by expressing their gratitude for all the support and sincerely apologized for suddenly delivering such news to the fans who love the group.
The agency also requested fans to show their unchanging support and warm love for the members before their new start.
bugAboo , which comprised of six members, namely Zin, Cyan, Rainie, Yoona, Eunchae, and Choyeon, debuted just over a year ago with a single album.
During an interview just a few days before making their debut, the band had spoken about how they hoped to inspire others. They wanted to become a good influence to many people.
Cyan had mentioned that she wanted people worldwide to realize that they can become whatever they want, irrespective of what languages they speak or where they come from. Yoona had shared that she wanted to give people the courage for pursuing their dreams and understand that anything is possible for them if they work hard for it.
bugAboo made their first-ever comeback this year in June with the follow-up single album called "Pop", which had a title song of the same name. The three song record included an instrumental version of "Pop" and the Bi-side song "Easy Move".
Meanwhile, bugAboo was the first girl group that the agency Jhun launched, after spending decades making hits for numerous K-pop groups including Red Velvet, SHINee, and TWICE.
bugAboo was originally set to make their debut in 2020 but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed it and they ended up making their debut on October 25, 2021. Now in just over a year of debuting, the band has disbanded.
