Korean A-list actor Gong Yoo is definitely making his much-awaited TV comeback soon. The Goblin actor and actress Bae Doona are, reportedly, in talks to star in a new Netflix original sci-fi series, The Sea of Silence.

Reports have it that the actor has decided to make The Sea of Silence as his comeback K-drama, three years after the mega-hit Goblin. Gong Yoo's agency, Management SOOP, confirmed that the actor is considering the offer to appear in The Sea of Silence. However, nothing has been finalized as of yet. 

The series will be based on a short film of the same name by director Choi Hang Yong. The film gained attention at the 13th Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival in 2014.

The Sea of Silence is set in a dystopian future Earth, where there are water and food shortage because of worldwide desertification. It will tell the story of an elite team of agents who travel to an abandoned research base on the moon to retrieve some mysterious samples for analysis.

If Gong Yoo accepts the offer, he would be playing the role of Yoon Jae, a soldier from the Space and Aeronautics Administration and the leader of his team. Yunjae is a skilled leader who has an exceptional work ethic and is also full of charisma. 

In addition, Kingdom lead actress Bae Doo Na is also reportedly in talks to appear in the series. No details have been released about the character that Bae might play in the upcoming K-drama. 

The final cast lineup is expected to announce anytime soon as production of The Sea of Silence is scheduled to begin in August. The series is set to have eight episodes. 

The Sea of Silence will not only have star-studded cast members but the people in the production are top-notched too. The Netflix series first gained attention in December after it was announced that Steel Rain actor Jung Woo Sung will be the executive producer of the series. 

Moreover, Park Eun Kyo will also pen the script. Park wrote the 2010 critically-acclaimed movie Mother, which was helmed by Parasite Bong Joon Ho. Choi Hang Yong will direct the series. 

Meanwhile, aside from The Sea of Silence, Gong Yoo is also considering an offer to appear in the Korean movie Wonderland. Other Korean stars that are also in talks to play a role in Wonderland are Park Bo Gum, Suzy, Choi Woo Shik, And Jung Yu Mi. Wonderland will, reportedly, start filming this year. 

Meanwhile, Gong Yoo and Park Bo Gum will be in the highly-anticipated movie, Seo Bok. The film is scheduled for release this year.
