Brown Eyed Girls' Gain Allegedly The Girl Group Member Fined For Illegal Propofol Use
A blind item involving a popular girl group member's alleged illegal use of the propofol drug was reported on Wednesday, June 30. It was belatedly reported that the idol was caught taking this prescription drug and was fined for the offense.
Based on the reports, the police launched an investigation after receiving a tip-off that a female Kpop star has been using propofol in addition to other illegal drugs. As per Koreaboo, the authorities visited her house, and they found the medication normally used for general anesthesia in major surgery. The police were also said to have found other types of illegal drugs as well.
After a lengthy investigation, the singer was found guilty of illegal propofol use. She also admitted taking propofol between July and August 2019. For the guilty verdict, she was fined ₩1,000,000 or around $900 and charged in early 2021.
It was learned that she obtained the drug from a plastic surgeon who is in his 70s already. She said that she thought propofol was part of the medical procedure for cosmetic surgery. However, the police found that her usage was not related to any treatment at all.
The doctor gave her Etomidate, and for this, he violated the country's pharmaceutical law. As a result of his actions, he was sentenced to one and a half years in prison, but he is said to be currently appealing his case.
In the latest update, Allkpop stated that the fined girl group member is Brown Eyed Girls' Son Gain. It was claimed in the report that the 33-year-old artist is the alleged propofol user. Meanwhile, the singer's agency, Mystic Story, has yet to issue a statement regarding the matter. The agency said it has yet to confirm the details before it can say anything about the allegations.
