SEVENTEEN Dominates Oricon Weekly Album Chart With 3 Consecutive Korean Albums, Breaks A 42-Year Historical Record
SEVENTEEN's seventh mini-album 'Heng:garae' has topped Japan's Oricon Weekly Album Chart, making it their third Korean album to do so, after their two previous releases, 'You Made My Dawn' (2019) and 'An Ode' (2019).
On June 30, Oricon announced that SEVENTEEN's "Heng:garæ" sold 101,000 copies in Japan and placed No. 1 on their weekly albums chart for the week of June 22 through June 28, Soompi reported.
This outstanding achievement of SEVENTEENbroke the historical record in Oricon that no other foreign artists achieved for the past 42 years and 11 months who topped the weekly chart again in three consecutive international albums since the famous American folk-rock duo Simon & Garfunkel on 1971 and Scottish band group Bay City Rollers on1977 that established the record in Japan, Allkpop reported.
After hearing the news, all the members of SEVENTEEN were ecstatic. They began celebrating by thanking all those who have supported them along the way, most notably to their fans called CARATS.
The boy group stated, "This album is a message to the youth who are challenging themselves to reach their dreams, so we would be glad if it provides even a little bit of energy to everyone. We are working hard to bring to you even better music and performances in the future."
SEVENTEEN's 'Heng:garae' sold 1.09 million copies of its album within the first week of its release, five days to be exact, making them the second 'Million Seller' in Korea this year, following BTS.
Meanwhile, On July 1, it was also announced that SEVENTEEN had collaborated with Francesca Amfitheatrof for a one-of-a-kind bracelet, proving the increase of their global reputation.
The collaboration is another record-breaking achievement for the group as they've become the first Korean artists to work with the famous designer.
The new products have been praised for featuring recycled plastic with its high-end yet straightforward design, featuring a tag with SEVENTEEN's logo on it. A portion of the profits from the bracelets will be donated to organizations fighting for environmental welfare, reported by Koreaboo.
In the meantime, SEVENTEEN is continuing its promotional activities with the title song 'Left & Right.'
Congratulations, SEVENTEEN!
