BTS And BLACKPINK Are Nominated For This Year's People's Choice Awards
On October 2, the nominees for the 46th People's Choice Awards, several of the biggest film awards ceremonies in the United States, were announced on Friday.
As K-pop continues to gain momentum and recognition in the West, the two leading K-pop bands in the American music industry, BLACKPINK, and BTS have successfully scooped up some awards for themselves, and fans have seen this coming.

BTS has been selected for" The Group of 2020," and the truth is, ARMYs have seen this coming. BTS has launched several hit tracks during the year, including 'ON,' 'Black Swan,' and the all-English track 'Dynamite.'
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic's emergence in South Korea and the damage it caused the whole world, the boys have consistently launched their quarantine work and conducted the world's most-attended digital show. Previously, at the 44th People's Choice Awards in 2018, BTS received the "Group of the Year" title.
In 2019, they were once again appointed but unfortunately defeated by one of the biggest girl bands in South Korea, BLACKPINK. The album by BTS, "Dynamite," is qualified for "The Song of 2020."
The track is the band's very first ALL-ENGLISH track and also the first hit from BTS to dominate the Billboard Music Charts, securing a top spot. This is also the first album to rank highly produced by a South Korean band.
Meanwhile, Dynamite also persisted in the music chart for two weeks, indicating their song's success. BTS received the same recognition for their single "IDOL" at the 44th People's Choice Award.
Furthermore, BTS' album, 'MAP OF THE SOUL:7,' was nominated for the category of 'The Album of 2020.'
Indeed, the boyband album ranked highly in the Billboard 2020 chart and was positively commended by the music industry's well-known critics. Specifically applauded for the styles and genres the band used for the album, showing off their originality.
The boys' creativity also gave way for them to be nominated for 'The Music Video of 2020' for their latest song, Dynamite.
Moving on to BLACKPINK, the group was chosen for "The Group of 2020," indicating that 2020 was the best and most productive year ever for BLACKPINK.
The band has recently released pre-launch tracks, and today, October 2, will be officially launching its first worldwide awaited full-length studio album.
In the 45th People's Choice Awards, BLACKPINK recently won "The Group of 2019," beating BTS.
Moreover, BLACKPINK's Ice Cream (feat. Selena Gomez) was also nominated for 'The Music Video of 2020.' The music video is vibrant and pink, which resonates with the previous music videos of BLACKPINK that focused mostly on the theme of their girl crush or girl next door.
It is as cute, cold, and sweet as ice cream and reveals Selena Gomez and BLACKPINK special relationship. The music video had surprisingly received over 300 million views as of October 1, 2020.
Meanwhile, the winner of this year's award under the categories mentioned above will be officially revealed on November 15, 2020, at the 46th People's Choice Awards ceremony. (via Pinkvilla)
