Here Are The Winners Of The '2020 Idol Star eSports Championships – Chuseok Special'
Instead of conducting the usual "Idol Star Athletics Championships," the Chuseok holidays were even made special as it featured an exciting event on MBC: the "2020 Idol Star eSports Championships – Chuseok Special"!
Two spin-off shows this Chuseok holiday season is airing in MBC, rather than the standard "Idol Star Athletics Championships," which could not be filmed indoors due to social distancing guidelines. On October 21, the eSports event from the championships was turned into a stand-alone special was aired. And on October 2, teaming up for the "2020 Idol Star Dog-agility Championships –Chuseok Special" are the idols and their pet dogs.
Super Hong Jin Young, Junior's Shindong, and broadcaster Jeon Yong Joon MCed the "2020 Idol Star eSports Championships – Chuseok Special". And the protective booths as a precautionary measure separated the participating idols as this year's special has competed outdoors with no audience.
The PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) Winners
The battle royale game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile started the event. And 12 teams took part in the event, which include The Boyz; NCT Dream; SF9; a united unit composed of Wanna One alumni Kim Jae Hwan, Park Ji Hoon, and Ha Sung Woon; N.Flying; ONF; Golden Child; DONGKIZ and CRAVITY; PENTAGON and (G)I-DLE; AB6IX; IZ*ONE; and LOONA and GWSN.
First off, the 47 idols went head to head in an individual game. And the final three left in the game were NCT Dream's Chenle, Miyawaki Sakura, and Park Ji Hoon. And in the end, Chenle took the win. He said that everyone who took part is so great at the game. "I'm lucky to have been able to come in first, and it's an honor."
The game of PUBG between the squads was the next event conducted. In the first round of the squad game, Park Ji Hoon had the edge over everyone. AB6IX's Lee Dae Hwi remained as one of the two final survivors. However, he was eliminated soon as Park Ji Hoon hit him. Park Ji Hoon's team came first as his team racked up eight kills.
PENTAGON's Wooseok made everyone laugh in the second round when he ignored his team members asking for help and survived independently. Park Ji Hoon was impressed with his confident gameplay, and the united team quickly finished farming and started killing. Miyawaki Sakura came across N.Flying while driving a car in the game, which blew up IZ*ONE's car and eliminated them.
N.Flying became the overall winner with Seo Dong Sung as the MVP (Most Valuable Player). He was previously announced had ranked in the Top 100 in Asia. N.Flying won the gold medal, a Korean beef set, and a mask donation benefit. Seo Dong Sung shared that he didn't expect the win at all.
The KartRider Winners
Furthermore, the special then turned to the racing game KartRider, with the idols playing the mobile version. Competitors who joined included Lovelyz, Oh My Girl, MONSTA X, N.Flying, APRIL, WJSN, NCT, SF9, PENTAGON, ONF, Golden Child, IZ*ONE, AB6IX, Natty, and WEi.
Taking the first place is WEi's Kim Dong Han, and ONF's MK grabbed second, meaning the two of them both made it to the finals.
In the B Group, the first and second place went to IZ*ONE's Choi Ye Na and Kwon Eun Bi, and in the C Group to NCT's Jungwoo and ONF's Hyojin. And advancing to the D Group's next level is NCT's Jeno and WEi's Kim Yo Han.
The finals were between the N.Flying and SF9 team and the MONSTA X and PENTAGON team, with the latter taking the win.
Lastly, the competitors faced off in an item race. NCT, Lovelyz and Golden Child, IZ*ONE and Natty, and MONSTA X and PENTAGON joined the semifinals. And NCT took the win in the end, and Taeil shared their gratitude to the winners.
