YG Entertainment Under Fire For Disrespecting Hindu Deity Ganesha
As much as "How You Like That" MV of BLACKPINK soars high in worldwide charts, comes a controversy on the girl's use of the Hindu Deity as a prop and putting it on the ground.
BLACKPINK made an explosive comeback with their new hit track "How You Like That." On June 26, the girls mesmerized the BLINKS with their edgy and remarkable portrayals on their new music video that made waves on social media platforms.
The number of views on their music video rocketed as no music groups have ever done before. With 82.377 Million views in 24 hours, according to World Music Awards, it instantly broke the world's record for most views in the first 24 hours!
However, the expensive production of BLACKPINK's music video for "How You Like That" did not escape the eagle-eyed viewers. Critics are now targeting YG Entertainment and BLACKPINK for disrespecting the deity Ganesha and the Hindu culture in general.
There are two sides of the critic, based on the flooding tweets and fans' comments:
First is mainly the use of the Hindu deity, Ganesha, on the music video. The fact that the production used the goddess for even just a split second in the music video as part of the aesthetics is incredibly insulting for the deity believers.
Second is that the deity Ganesha was placed on the ground during Lisa's solo part in the video while sitting on a throne. Many Indian BLINKs found it astonishingly disrespectful since they believe that deities are meant for high places and not on the ground.
Meanwhile, the incident became a spark for fan-wars where other fandoms started to email and tag the YG Entertainment for such negligence.
BLINKS around the world are holding the agency responsible for the mistake. However, YG Entertainment has not responded to the concerns just yet.
