BTS' RM Celebrates Birthday By Donating 100 Million Won To An Art Museum
Here’s how BTS’ RM celebrated his latest birthday in a more meaningful and significant way!
On September 12, RM made a generous donation of 100 million won (approximately $84,200) for his birthday, according to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA).
The donation of RM will be utilized towards the reprinting of out-of-print and hard-to-find books related to art, some of which will be sent in 400 places across the country covering the needs of elementary, middle, and high schools. And in the museum’s bookstore, the reprinted books will also be available for purchase.
The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art director, Yoon Bum Mo, commented that RM expressed his desire to support the field of art, in which he has found inspiration and comfort. The idol shared his hope that children and youth who may not find it easy to access museums will be able to quickly come into contact with art through the books just as he was able to gain a deeper understanding of art through books. “We were delighted and surprised by his wish.”
The director continued that together with RM, they will work hard to expand the practice of reading books about art. RM, despite his busy schedule, was known to be continually visiting the museum and has been a positive influence in increasing interest in art.
