BTS And Big Hit Entertainment Donate $1 Million To Help Jobless Concert Crews
BTS and Big Hit Entertainment have joined hands to donate $1 million to Live Nation’s Crew Nation Charity. This meaningful act is geared with Live Nation’s campaign to support live-entertainment personnel impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, according to Variety.
Earlier this month, BTS also donated $1 million to Black Lives Matter.
With the enormous impact of the pandemic, concert crews and, other live-entertainment personnel are deeply hurting with so many canceled shows that they’re supposed to be working in. This includes the 70 live concert crew members of BTS supposed to be working in their aligned concerts but was postponed due to the threats of the virus.
“If it weren’t for COVID-19, we would have been happily touring across the world with many of our concert crews by now’ said the K-pop group in a statement. They also added, “We are aware that a lot of communities need help due to COVID-19, and we wanted to support the music industry crews by making a donation. We hope to meet again on stage very soon.”
The said amount donated the K-pop superstars and their management according to the announcement was said to be the biggest since the charity was created. “This is one of the largest artist donations that has been raised for the Crew nation fund since its conception.”
Live nation launched Crew Nation in March with initial donations of $10 million to help over 1,000 concert crew members, according to CNN. All nationalities, including Koreans, can apply for the Crew Nation fund, according to Variety.
According to Big Hit’s Global CEO Lenzo Yoon, “It is very unfortunate that the music industry has to go through such a difficult time at the moment. We hope our contribution to Crew nation could help support many live concert crews around the world.”
Meanwhile, the superstars’ “Bang Bang Con: The Live” drew 756, 000 fans to the paid concert livestream.
