Park Gyu Young shares her thoughts in an interview with Xportsnews after the recent tvN's "It's Okay To Not Be Okay's" finale.
Actress Park Gyu Young played the role of Nam Ju Ri in the hit drama. She is a nurse at the psychiatric hospital where Moon Kang Tae (Kim Soo Hyun) works, and a childhood friend of the children's book author Go Moon Young (Seo Ye JI).
Park Gyu expressed that when asked about portraying her character, one key phrase describes Ju Ri: someone who is not brave enough to be disliked and isn't right to her emotions. She sees the character as someone who keeps a lot hidden from the world.
The actress continued saying that the person Nam Ju Ri could be honest with was her mother, and Park Gyun Young thought people would relate to the character if she were more honestly expressive.
Park Gyu Young, when grading her acting in "It's Okay To Not Be Okay," said that she would give herself 50 out of 100. Park Gyu Young explained that whenever she sees herself act, she thinks why she was doing such a thing. "I'm grateful that many people are looking at her, kindly."
Furthermore, the actress expressed that she had a lot of luck with the senior actors that she's been able to work with. She thought that it was hard to approach them, but they came up to her and offered help comfortably.
As Park Gyu Young talked about Seo Ye Ji, she revealed that she first saw her during the script reading. She continued that Seo Ye Ji initiated the conversation with her a lot, and whenever they rehearse or go over the lines, she always asked her opinion. "We have worked together really well."
Regarding Kim Soo Hyun, she spilled that his energy was high. Gyu Young shared that she has seen his dramas even from the time she debuted, and she became nervous about thinking how their teamwork would become.
The actress added that Kim So Hyun made their teamwork very comfortable. She also asked him many questions about the things she was curious about.
As the actress ended the interview, she expressed that she wants to become an actress that makes people continuously curious. "If you paint red on the white sketchbook and turn your page, you get another white sheet. Once you keep drawing, you can create a whole book, and then another book, and I wanted people to think, 'What is she going to draw next?"
