Jang Hyuk Returns To The Big Screen For The Action Film 'The Swordsman'
South Korean actor, Jang Hyuk, is best known for his portrayals in the films "Volcano High" (2017) and "Windstruck" (2004), as well as television series "Successful Story of a Bright Girl" (2002) and many more. KpopStarz reports that the new historical action film marks his first time playing a blind man.
The story revolves around Tae-Yeul (Jang Hyuk), the best swordsman in the Joseon dynasty. After losing one of his eyes, he finds his missing daughter, played by actress Kim Hyun-soo.
The film's cast also includes Jung Man-Shik as Min Seung-ho – Joseon's most exceptional military official, and Indonesian actor Joe Taslim who plays Gurutai – Qing dynasty's best swordsman. Furthermore, Korean actor Jang Hyun-sung and BTOB's Lee Min-hyuk take supportive roles to be anticipated.
After quite a setback, the movie will finally be displayed. According to Korea JoongAng Daily, the film's release had to be delayed because of payment issues with the production company.
The movie's production started in 2017, directed by Choi Jae-hoon under Opus Pictures. The company is known for producing hit movies such as the 2010 film "The Man From Nowhere" and the 2013 film "SnowPiercer."
Film Combat Syndicate said that Opus pictures had been quietly rolling out bits of the film's making, showing some of the cast on set since its production began. Recently, two posters have been released, heightening the thrill of the upcoming sword-fighting movie.
In one advertisement, Jang Hyuk is caught in a chaotic atmosphere with a sword pointed at him. The words on the poster read, "Beginning of pursuit," translated in English. Tension arises in his expression as a father fighting to search for his kidnapped daughter.
Look out for fiery action frames and swordfight scenes that will surely wow the viewers soon! "The Swordsman" is set to premiere in theaters nationwide starting September 17 of this year.
