Kang Daniel Dominates Gaon Physical Album Sales For First Mini-Album 'Cyan'
Kang Daniel's comeback with the mini-album Cyan is coming along nicely as he topped the physical album sales on the first week of release.
According to sales stats released by Gaon Chart for the week of March 22 to March 28, Kang Daniel's comeback album was the top seller with 211,936 copies.
His former WANNA One member Ong Seong Wu also did well with his latest solo release and landed on the second spot with Layers. NCT 127's well-received album Neo Zone continued to do well in sales and rounded up the Top 3 bestselling album for the week.
In terms of digital streams and sales, Kang Daniel made a strong showing on the global iTunes chart. His comeback album Cyan with the title track 2U debuted at No. 1 of the Top Albums Chart in Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Turkey, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Singapore, and the Philippines as soon as it became available on the music platform on March 25. Cyan also made it to the Top iTunes chart of Japan and Russia.
Kang Daniel's first mini-album also soared to the top of the iTunes Kpop Albums charts in Canada, Japan, Australia, Turkey, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Singapore, and the Philippines. In the US, it landed on the No. 2 spot while it also made it to the Top 10 Kpop albums in Spain, UAE, and Saudi Arabia, Soompi reported.
It can be recalled that Kang Daniel is making a comeback after taking a brief hiatus last year. The Kpop artist took a few months of leave to focus on his mental health after he suffered from anxiety and depression.
As he made his gradual recovery, he also worked on projects away from the limelight such as his travel show, Hello Daniel, where he documented his journey to Portland as a typical 25-year-old man and not as a celebrity. He also flew to the US early this year to put the finishing touches on his mini-album.
"There's so much that I prepared this year to show people and there's so much more in me as an artist that I want to show. So there's a lot more of the artist side that I want to show people at the moment. I'm going to make a good balance like last year while also focusing on the artist side," Kang Daniel, who is also the CEO of his label Konnect Entertainment said in an interview with Forbes.
