TWICE's Jeongyeon Is A No-Show At The '2020 Soribada Best K-Music Awards'
As the ‘2020 Soribada Best K-Music Awards’ concluded, fans couldn’t help but notice that one TWICE member is a no-show during the event.
Previously, JYP Entertainment has made known through a statement on TWICE’s official fan café that one member of the South Korean all-girl group will not participate in the nearing ‘2020 Soribada Best K-Music Awards.’ The agency’s statement says that member Jeongyeon will be absent in the upcoming awards show to focus on her health and recovery.
“We will do our best to help Jeongyeon have a speedy recovery,” the agency added.
The saddening news stunned TWICE’s beloved fans. And it comes after the announcement of the group’s online concert entitled ‘Beyond LIVE – TWICE: World in a Day.’
On August 6, as per Kpopstarz, JYP Entertainment confirmed that Jeongyeon would join in with her fellow bandmates for the concert, but she would be only seated and unable to dance. According to Soompi, Jeongyeon indeed performed while sitting in a chair as TWICE during their much-awaited online concert last weekend.
At that time of the announcement, the agency did not divulge the real deal of the singer’s health issues or incurred injuries that led her to underperform. The fans waited patiently for any update until the Soribada event, but no statement was released about Jeongyeon’s health state.
The privacy kept by Jeongyeon and the agency made the fans speculate and even conclude that it might be because of her neck injury. In June, the TWICE member blurted out in a live broadcast that he has a herniated disc in her neck.
She also said that she only knew about the illness when TWICE filmed the ‘MORE & MORE’ music video when she suddenly felt a total numbness that spread up to her hear. The endured pain by Jeongyeon had her stay in the hospital for a week and miss numerous practices and rehearsals for the group’s comeback.
