BTS Jungkook's "Standing Next to You" Surpasses 300 Million Streams on Spotify: A New Record in K-Pop Solo History
BTS Jungkook has set another dazzling record on Spotify, shining his global popularity. His solo song "Standing Next to You," from the album 'GOLDEN,' released in November last year, has surpassed 300 million streams on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform.
"Standing Next to You" achieved this milestone in just 71 days after its release, showcasing Jungkook's strong music power and popularity.
According to the official account of the 'World Music Awards' (WMA), often referred to as Europe's Billboard, "Standing Next to You" has set a new record for the fastest 300 million streams achieved by a K-Pop solo artist's song.
On Spotify, Jungkook has marked this 300 million stream achievement with a total of six songs, including "Seven," "3D," his collaboration with American singer-songwriter Charlie Puth in "Left and Right," "Dreamers" from the official soundtrack of the 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup, BTS album solo song "Euphoria," and now "Standing Next to You."
"Standing Next to You" has also topped Spotify's 'Daily Top Song Global' chart and remained in it for over 70 days, demonstrating long-term hit power.
Additionally, it debuted at number 5 on Billboard's main singles chart 'Hot 100,' charting for 10 consecutive weeks, and has ranked continuously for 10 weeks in both 'Global200' and 'Global (excluding the U.S.)' charts. The song also entered the UK Official Main Singles Chart 'Top 100' for a total of 10 weeks.
"Standing Next to You" was included in the list of '15 K-Pop Songs That Took 2023 By Storm' selected by the Grammy Awards, one of the top three music award ceremonies in the United States, and praised as "a timeless hit that will transcend years." It was also selected in 'The 100 Best Songs of 2023' by the Los Angeles Times.
Meanwhile, Jungkook has raised expectations for winning awards as he has been nominated in various categories, such as 'Favorite Debut Album', 'Best Music Video', 'Kpop Artist of the Year', and 'Kpop Song of the Year' at the 'iHeartRadio Music Awards 2024'. Additionally, he is a nominee at the 'E! People's Choice Awards 2024' (PCAs) for 'Pop Artist of the Year', 'Male Artist of the Year', 'New Artist of the Year', and 'Collaboration Song of the Year', setting a new record for the most nominations for a K-Pop solo artist at these award shows.
