Sungjong of the group INFINITE has notified his agency, SPK Entertainment, of his intention to terminate his exclusive contract. According to an investigation by The Fact, Sungjong sent several notices of content certification to SPK Entertainment at the end of last year, citing unpaid contract and settlement funds and a breakdown of trust as reasons for terminating the contract.

Kang Yun-hee, a lawyer representing Sungjong, responded to <The Fact>'s request for verification, stating, "We have sent several notices of content certification and notified of the termination of the exclusive contract. The main reasons are unpaid settlement funds and a breakdown of trust. There was no support, both in terms of personnel and material, during his activities under the contract, and the settlement funds were also not paid."

However, the agency's representative has reportedly remained silent on the matter, not providing any official response to the content certification related to Sungjong. <The Fact> also reached out to the representative of SPK Entertainment, who withheld comment, saying, "I have nothing to say."

Sungjong's side has attempted to negotiate several times, but with no success. If the representative of SPK Entertainment continues to be unresponsive, legal action is being considered.

Sungjong debuted in 2010 with the group INFINITE and received much love. After approximately 12 years with Woollim Entertainment, he left in January 2022 and signed an exclusive contract with SPK Entertainment in September of the same year, marking a new start.

A month into his exclusive contract, in October 2022, Sungjong successfully held a domestic concert and a fan meeting in Taiwan in November. In March 2023, he released the single 'The One', and in July of the same year, he participated in INFINITE's mini 7th album '13egin'. At that time, INFINITE sold out all seats at their concert held at KSPO DOME (Gymnastics Stadium).

However, 1 year and 3 months after signing the contract, his activities as a solo artist outside of INFINITE have been limited to just one single. It's difficult to see this as adequate support. Moreover, Sungjong's side claims that he has not received settlement funds for his activities as a solo artist, including fan meetings and concerts, and even after releasing an album and selling out a large-scale concert with INFINITE.

Lawyer Kang mentioned, "We attempted to negotiate until last week, so we weren't considering legal action yet. We'll have to think about it in the future." Whether Sungjong and SPK Entertainment will come to an agreement or escalate to legal disputes remains to be seen.
