BTS Jimin's 'Like Crazy' Receives Platinum Certification in the U.S., Japan, and Now Canada
BTS member Jimin's song 'Like Crazy' has earned a Platinum certification from Music Canada (formerly known as the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA)). According to an announcement on Music Canada's website dated January 11, 'Like Crazy' achieved Platinum single certification for recording over 80,000 units in sales in Canada. This marks the first instance in the past decade for a Korean solo song to earn this honor since the certification revamp.
Music Canada, a non-profit organization representing companies involved in the recording, manufacturing, and distribution of music in Canada, awards certifications like Gold, Platinum, Multi-Platinum, and Diamond based on digital and physical album sales and track-equivalent albums (TEA). 'Like Crazy' managed to achieve Platinum certification just five months after receiving Gold certification last August.
Prior to this, 'Like Crazy' broke records in August 2023 by achieving 1 million unit sales in just 251 days after its release, becoming the fastest Korean soloist and Korean song to do so. It received Platinum certification eligibility from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), with official certification granted in November following the submission requirement by the association.
This achievement is another historical milestone for Jimin, reinforcing his presence in the American mainstream. It follows his landmark achievements as the first Korean solo artist to reach No. 1 on Billboard's 'Hot 100' and the first and only Korean solo artist to top the 'Artist 100'.
Jimin's solo album 'FACE,' featuring 'Like Crazy' as the title track, recorded over 250,000 shipments by March 2023, earning it a Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ). This marked the first and only Platinum certification for a Korean language album by a K-pop solo artist in Japan, showcasing his prominence there.
Having released 'FACE' in March last year and embarking on a full-fledged solo career, Jimin continues to receive immense love in major pop markets like the U.S., Japan, and now Canada with his Korean songs and albums, fittingly walking the path of a '21st Century Pop Icon'.
