Goo Hara Remembered: Four Years Since Her Passing, Yet 'Goo Hara Act' Still Pending
It has been four years since the passing of Goo Hara, a former member of the girl group KARA.
Goo Hara was found deceased in her home in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul, on November 24, 2019. It was reported that she made an extreme choice, as evidenced by a handwritten note found at the scene.
Her sudden passing shocked many, including her colleagues in the entertainment industry. On the 8th of this month, KARA member Kang Jiyoung left a comment on Goo Hara's SNS saying, "I miss you so much today. I don't know if I am doing well, but I am trying hard to become a wonderful person. I will come to see you soon with a beautiful gift. I love you," expressing her longing.
Following Goo Hara's death, discussions began for the enactment of the 'Goo Hara Act'. This was due to disputes over the division of her inheritance among her surviving relatives. Her brother, Goo Ho In, initiated a lawsuit against their biological mother, who had been out of contact for 20 years since divorcing their father when Goo Hara was 9 years old.
Although Goo Ho In publicized the need for the 'Goo Hara Act', it is still pending in the National Assembly after passing through the State Council.
Goo Hara debuted in the music industry in 2008 after joining KARA. She left behind numerous hit songs, such as 'Pretty Girl', 'Honey', 'Lupin', 'Mister', and 'Step', and also enjoyed significant success in Japan.
Last November, KARA celebrated their 15th debut anniversary by releasing the special album 'MOVE AGAIN' and made a comeback as a complete group after approximately 7 years.
