'The Real Celebrity': Jang Wonyoung's Born-to-Be Idol Essence
Jang Wonyoung from the girl group IVE, is being universally praised for her exceptional idol qualities, not just by fans but also by fellow artists, staff, and senior musicians. The praise extends beyond her public persona to her admirable character behind the camera.
On November 17, JYP Entertainment's founder Park Jin-young appeared as a guest on GOT7 BamBam's YouTube channel 'BamHouse'. Responding to BamBam's question about his thoughts on current junior artists, Park Jin-young stated, "They seem to be born ready to be idols. It's a stark difference from your generation." He particularly praised Jang Wonyoung, recounting their collaboration for the 'Groove Back' challenge, saying, "From the moment we met until the end, everything about her screamed real idol. It's in a good sense."
Park Jin-young added, "She seems to love and enjoy this life, truly embracing the idol lifestyle. Despite the inner hardships, she's the epitome of 'idol mode'."
In July, an incident at the music video shoot for IVE's song 'I AM' revealed Wonyoung's professionalism. Son Seung-hee, the director of the 'I AM' music video, shared on MBC FM4U's 'GOT7 Youngjae's Close Friend' that Wonyoung sustained an injury requiring seven stitches on her arm during the shoot. Despite the injury and emergency room visits, Wonyoung completed all her scenes without showing any discomfort. "There were many shots that wouldn't have been possible if Wonyoung hadn't been able to perform after her injury," praised the director.
Furthermore, HaHa from 'Running Man' shared his admiration for Jang Wonyoung on his Twitch broadcast following a shoot with IVE. He said, "Jang Wonyoung is amazing. How can someone be so well-raised? She's pretty, has good character, and even excels academically. She's humble despite her youth." He was also touched by her attentiveness, recalling how she knew they were from the same neighborhood.
IVE, including Jang Wonyoung, recently held their first world tour 'SHOW WHAT I HAVE' in Yokohama, Japan, on the 15th and 16th, showcasing their global appeal and Wonyoung's undeniable star quality.
