After YG Contract Expiry, BLACKPINK's Rose Sparks International Venture Speculation
The solo endeavors of Rose, a member of the group BLACKPINK, amidst their contract renewal issues, are gaining attention.
Recently, photos of Rose meeting with Ron Perry, Chairman of Columbia Records, have spread across online communities. Columbia Records is a major U.S. label with globally renowned artists like Adele, Beyoncé, and Harry Styles.
Currently, BLACKPINK, to which Rose belongs, had their exclusive contract with YG Entertainment (referred to as YG) expire last August. As members' contract renewal remains uncertain, global music fans have turned their attention to their individual schedules and activities.
In the midst of this, Rose was captured in a meeting with Ron Perry, Chairman of the major U.S. label, Columbia Records. In the photos, Chairman Perry is seen engaging in an enthusiastic conversation while Rose listens intently.
Netizens are speculating about Rose's potential international ventures or a possible collaboration between BLACKPINK and Columbia Records. With increasing curiosity about the backgrounds of both parties, there's heightened interest in the future direction of BLACKPINK and the moves of its members.
Industry insiders also describe the meeting as "significant". Given BLACKPINK's status as a global representative artist beyond just K-pop, the meeting between Rose and the Chairman of Columbia Records could be seen as a stepping stone for North American ventures.
Notably, an executive from Columbia Records started following the personal social media accounts of all BLACKPINK members, drawing attention. Industry insiders suggest that "it wouldn't be without reason", anticipating potential business moves in the near future.
Meanwhile, in the midst of BLACKPINK's contract renewal issues, it was reported that Lisa declined YG's offer of 50 billion won. Rumors have also circulated that Jisoo and Jennie might establish their own individual agencies. In response, YG has only stated that discussions are ongoing.
